Ever since I was old enough to enjoy a good book, which goes back to my discovering Sherlock Holmes in the 6th grade, I’ve dreamed of being an author. Now that I’ve written three novels (plus hundreds of newspaper columns and blog essays), I’ve learned that being an author isn’t confined to words you insert between two book covers. It’s creating a video that gets high school students to stand up against bullying. It’s birthing a child-empowering children’s book whose message is carried on the breath of the wind. And it’s sending out ideas and inspirations in the guise of words, all in a voice surprisingly like your own.
